Forensic teams are now sweeping the roads under cordon
Enquiries by West Yorkshire Police remain ongoing this evening as forensic officers have been seen examining the scene in Chapeltown where a man was stabbed to death.
One elderly woman, who did not want to be named, lives nearby and was passing the scene at about 7.20pm on her way home. She said: “It’s just so sad. I’ve lived here since I’ve been a kid. People say ‘oh you shouldn’t go out at night’ but I say no, we shouldn’t have to be afraid. In my day kids would fight and scrap and that would be it. Now it’s stab stab stab. Awful.”
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police have launched a murder investigation following the stabbing of a man in Chapeltown, Leeds. "Police were called by the ambulance service at 2.39pm to a report a man had been located there with serious stab injuries.
