Jada Pinkett Smith considered late rapper Tupac Shakur a soulmate despite there being ‘no chemistry’ between the pair on a romantic level
During a Thursday, October 12, interview with RollingOut, Pinkett Smith, 52, was asked about Tupac, who died at age 25 in 1996, thinking of her as a “soulmate.” The actress replied that it’s “absolutely” possible to have a soulmate connection that is platonic.
“It just wasn’t possible. There was no chemistry between us,” she explained, laughing. The Red Table Talk alum insisted that their connection was simply “friendship-love chemistry” and said there was “a repelling nature” that prevented them from being more than pals. “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” she said in the teaser.
