The Jaguars defense had one job: contain Russell Wilson. They did that until it matter most in a loss to the Broncos.
On Denver’s next possession, Wilson was intercepted by cornerbackhis second pick of the season at the first turnover by the Jags defense since Andre Cisco’s interception and return for a touchdown in the first period against Philadelphia — a span of 15 quarters.
The key possession for Denver was in the third quarter. After Jags punter Logan Cooke angled a punt to the corner of the field, with Daniel Thomas there to field it at the 2-yard line like an infielder scooping up a routine ground ball, Wilson scarcely noticed the end zone right behind his back.
The Jags had done better this season against opposing tight ends, allowing only one touchdown and a high of 72 yards out of that position.
