The Jaguars Foundation announced the winners of the new “Girls in Football” scholarship that was announced back in February.

The winners were Aneesha Mummareddy of Stanton College Prep, Mia-Bella Gutierrez of Ridgeview High, and Hadiya Bakhtari of Atlantic Coast High School.

“I applied just to see if I could get it. I wasn’t sure honestly, there were so many girls applying,” said Bakhtari, who played quarterback and safety for Atlantic Coast High’s flag football team. She likes playing safety but believes she’s better at quarterback because everyone tells her that she has a good arm and can hit receivers on deep routes.

Bakhtari will attend UNF, where she sets her sights on health administration, “I knew I wanted to do something in the business field, but I didn’t want to work directly in business like finance or accounting.” After doing some research, she found the business side of hospitals and felt it was the perfect degree for her. She hopes to play intramural flag football while she’s there.

All three of the recipients attended the Jaguars draft party where they received a custom Jags jersey and met wide receiver Zay Jones.Chase Bunker, News 104.5 WOKV Chase Bunker is a reporter and evening anchor for WOKV.
