James Gunn clears up a deleted tweet confusion after Justice League actor Ray Fisher commented on missing statements from the DC Universe co-boss. To say that there has been dramatic baggage with the DCU for years is one of the biggest understatements about Warner Bros. Discovery. Prior to the launch of DC Studios, the company had been facing various behind-the-scenes drama with a number of DCU properties.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The DCU is now going forward with Gunn and Peter Safran running DC Studios together, which was launched on November 1. However, Fisher recently commented on Twitter about the former's deleted tweets from earlier in the year about the Justice League controversies.
What remains to be seen is if Gunn will bring back Fisher's Cyborg, who hasn't been in the DCU since Whedon's Justice League cut in 2017. Since Zack Snyder's Justice League isn't canon to the DCU, Cyborg has technically not had any further appearances in the connected films and TV shows. With the DCU seemingly heading for a reboot in some capacity, Cyborg's status as one of the remaining Justice League heroes whose future is unknown. Given the feud between Warner Bros.
At the end of the day, losing Fisher's Cyborg is one of the biggest losses for the DCU, especially as he was considered one of the breakout character for Zack Snyder's Justice League, getting a powerful arc that was restored after 2017's Whedon theatrical cut. Whether or not Fisher and Gunn will collaborate together despite the past remains to be seen. Cyborg may not even be part of the DCU's future as Gunn and Safran get their overall plans underway.
