DC Studios boss James Gunn has a big reminder to fans who are looking to see Nightwing in the DC Universe movies. A new era is coming for the DCU as DC Studios was officially launched on November 1, which is replacing the former DC Films division that was previously led by Walter Hamada. Co-leads Peter Safran and Gunn are in charge of television shows, movies, and animation primarily tied to the larger DCU.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With DC Studios still getting up and running, many fans are eager to see various character pop into the DCU. When one Twitter asked Gunn, "you're doing so much for Z list characters, still this man isn't included... why Mr. Gunn why? People want to know!" the DC Studios co-CEO came back with a concrete answer that should serve as a big reminder for everyone who is following the progression of the DCU.
However, it remains unclear at this point if that is still the case, as Snyder hasn't been involved with the DCU since Justice League. It's also worth noting that Warner Bros. Pictures was developing a live-action Nightwing movie a few years ago, with director Chris McKay attached to helm it.
Currently, Nightwing can be seen on the small screen in the live-action HBO Max series Titans, with Brenton Thwaites portraying the hero. While the series doesn't take place in the DCU, Thwaites has said he would love to play Nightwing on the big screen if it could be worked out. Even if the Earth-9 version of his character couldn't appear in the DCU , Thwaites could also come into the movies and play that universe's iteration of Nightwing.
