James McAvoy has compared his new film role to infamous social media influencer Andrew Tate, dubbing him the 'king of toxic masculinity' as he opens up about his latest character
James McAvoy, acclaimed Scottish star, has thrown shade at social media influencer Andrew Tate by labelling him the 'king of toxic masculinity'. This comparison arises as he discusses his latest role in the English-language remake of the intense 2022 Danish psych-horror film Speak No Evil.
In a candid chat with Empire magazine, James revealed: "The thing I thought I could exploit in the character was, he thinks he's a bit of a f*****g West Country Andrew Tate." The star, famed for his role in X-Men, detailed how Paddy enjoys pushing other men's buttons, testing their masculinity over a pint, for example. As Empire quoted him, James shared: "challenging" people to see if they're up to scratch, probing whether they have a "big enough d***" to stand alongside him, reports the Daily Star.
