Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Jarrad Branthwaite could be “tempted” to stay at the club once the new stadium is open and the club is taken over., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Toffees still don’t need to sell the centre-back this summer despite their Friedkin Group takeover collapsing.
It was widely reported that Everton rejected a second bid from Man United for Branthwaite last month as the offer came nowhere near their valuation.The latest from a senior source today is that Everton are increasingly confident of keeping hold of their star defender and they will not budge on their asking price.Wyness claimed Jake O’Brien may have been brought in as a successor to the defender if he is to leave in the near future, but insisted he hopes the Carlisle academy product will stay.
