Footballer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of around £600,000 worth of cannabis at Stansted Airport. The 33-year-old - who plays for Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton - is expected to appear before Carlisle Magistrates on Thursday, accused of importing class B drugs. Around 60 kilos of cannabis was found in two suitcases that arrived from Bangkok last month, with two women also charged before being released on bail.
Sky Sports News has contacted Greenock Morton, who have not commented on the matter. National Crime Agency senior investigating officer David Phillips said: 'The NCA continues to work with partners like Border Force to target those involved in drug smuggling - that includes both the couriers and the organisers.
