It was indeed a Dior hair ribbon, selected to be worn for a party at The Grey Zone, a pop-up art gallery in Los Angeles, created in honour of a new campaign for the Gris Dior fragrance. A few days before, it was announced that Ortega had been selected as a campaign face and member of the Dior Collective.
Before the celebration began, we sat down together at her West Hollywood hotel. Ortega's warmth and down-to-earth demeanour come across immediately. She was dressed in head-to-toe Dior: flared jeans, black suede platform heels, and a cropped, bouclé varsity jacket emblazoned with “Christian Dior.” Her glam was fitting for the party's theme, featuring soft, sheer gray lids topped with her fluttery lashes.
Some people might say Ortega is adorable, hands tucked into her fluffy Dior jacket to keep them warm, but I am not one of them because that would minimise the maturity and mastery that has defined her career. This is, after all, the same force that channeled Wednesday Addams's badassery with unblinking acuity and held her own against Ghostface in thefranchise.
