Jennifer Grey revealed that audiences will see 'other characters' from the original movie in the upcoming 'Dirty Dancing' sequel. She said that filming for the movie will begin in the spring
"You can count on it being at Kellerman's, returning to Kellerman's," she said.The original film followed Baby, a young woman who spends the summer of 1963 vacationing with her family at Kellerman's. During her time at the resort, Baby falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle .
In the 35 years since it was first released,"Dirty Dancing" has become a cultural phenomenon and an enduring classic. Its success led to a 2004 prequel"Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights," a 2017 made for TV movie, a stage production and a FOX reality TVIn August 2020, Lionsgate announced that a sequel was in the works with Grey attached to star and produce.
"The most important thing for us was having Jennifer on board," he said."She is an invaluable collaborator. We’re going to try to involve as many people from the original as is appropriate. We want to be respectful in every way."from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57, Levine told Deadline that his character will be included in the follow-up film.
Levine added,"That said, Johnny’s absence looms large over the story, so it’s a coming-of-age story but also a coming-of-age for Baby’s character in a way.
