A man approached the EMT and punched him in the face and then lunged at other medical personnel in an aggressive manner.
A Jersey City Medical Center emergency medical technician responded to a person in need of medical attention and ended up in the hospital himself.
The incident, which is being investigated as an aggravated assault, occurred Saturday at 7:33 p.m. on Van Horne Street in the Glenview Townhouses complex in Jersey City, city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. An unknown man approached the EMT and punched him on the left side of his face, and then lunged at other medical personnel at the scene in an aggressive manner, Wallace-Scalcione said. The EMT got into the ambulance and safely transported the patient to the JCMC.
