It's been a big year for Chastain, as she won an Oscar for her performance as the titular character in the drama biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye. The project nabbed Chastain her first Academy Award victory, but her portrayal had been getting positive notices well before the film even debuted.

Rather than the controversial televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, the actor will play country superstar Tammy Wynette. Dubbed the First Lady of Country Music, Wynette is known for enduring hits like "Stand By Your Man" and "D-I-V-O-R-C-E." Shannon, meanwhile, will play fellow country luminary George Jones.The duo takes center stage in the new trailer for George & Tammy.
What To Expect From George & Tammy The series is based on the book The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George which was written by George and Tammy's daughter, Georgette Jones. Along those lines, George & Tammy will explore the struggles and challenges of the titular couple. They'd both been divorced before they met, and their union took their career to new heights. They collaborated on several hit songs, dueting their way through an intense romance.
Viewers might liken the drama to a country version of Pam & Tommy, but the project has been in the works since 2020. Abe Sylvia, who wrote The Eyes of Tammy Faye, created George & Tammy. John Hillcoat will direct.
