The North Antrim MP came seventh out of hundreds of MPs
The TUV MP Jim Allister has said that he is "delighted" to have come seventh in the House of Commons Private Members Bill ballot.
There are three ways in which an MP can table a Private Members' Bill, but bills selected through the lottery-style ballot have the best chance of becoming law, as they get priority for the limited amount of debating time available. As Jim Allister came in the top seven spots, it is even more likely that his bill will progress to become law as he will likely get a full day of debate in the House.
“The timeline is likely to involve presentation of my Bill on 16th October 2024. I will have more to say on this matter as things evolve.
