Jim McGuinness’ second coming as Donegal boss is set to be rubber-stamped at a specially convened County Board meeting on Monday night.2012 All-Ireland winning boss McGuinness is understood to be the choice of a five-person selection committee and to have agreed in principle to taking the post.
Donegal GAA has suffered a turbulent 2023 to date with Paddy Carr quitting mid season and Karl Lacey leaving his post as Donegal GAA academy chief, but McGuinness’ appointment will be viewed as a galvanising move for the county. Earlier this week 2012 Sam Maguire winning skipper, Michael Murphy indicated that he would not be returning to inter-county football even if McGuinness got the nod.
