From there, the president has accepted an invitation to address a joint sitting of the Dail and Seanad of the Irish parliament on Thursday afternoon.
He is being held in a pre-trial detention centre at the notorious Lefortovo prison in Moscow and faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted.
