An internal investigation was launched by the PSNI after footage emerged following Armagh's victory over Galway at Croke Park
Former All-Ireland winner Joe Brolly has hit back over unionist politicians' reaction to an incident in which PSNI officers appeared to join in celebrations after Armagh won the All-Ireland final on Sunday.
Brolly said the reaction from unionist leaders was "very disappointing", when Speaking on his Free State Podcast with Dion Fanning. "I was in Kenmare in Kerry before the All-Ireland semi-final last year with Pat Spillane and I was delighted to see the police cars had the Kerry stickers on them, the Garda station in Kenmare had the Kerry flags fluttering from the windows and that's just part and parcel of the community.
Brolly expressed his shock at a tweet sent by Gavin Robinson of the DUP, which read: "I spoke with the Chief Constable this morning. He is in no doubt of the need to reaffirm confidence in the PSNI's impartiality, integrity and professional standards. The All-Ireland winner added: "This is a police officer waving an Armagh flag to the locals who were delighted and who were waving back and all of the goodwill that that brings in an area where they are the community police."
Commenting on his conversation with Mr Boutcher, Mr Robinson said: “He is in no doubt of the need to reaffirm confidence in the PSNI’s impartiality, integrity and professional standards.
