Joe Gomez was close to making £45m move to Newcastle United and now Liverpool defender could have decision to make over his future
Joe Gomez faces a decision over his Liverpool future this summer after a move to Newcastle United collapsed - with there now growing interest in the England international. The Reds agreed in principle a £45million deal for Gomez as part of a package that would have seen fellow England international Anthony Gordon switch to Anfield for £75m.
However, the immediate need for the Magpies to cash in on the player has now passed with his asking price likely to be elevated as a consequence. Gomez, who is Liverpool's longest-serving current player having arrived nine years ago, was among the Reds' most consistent performers last season but started only four games in his preferred centre-back position.
