French company has revived the Scenic nameplate for a new all-electric SUV which is still designed to be a popular family car.

In this instalment of John Murdoch's Drive Time, Johntakes a spin in the all-electric Renault Scenic compact SUV and previews the new MINI 5-door which will go on sale later this summer.

Techno models start at just over £37,000, rising to around £41,000 with the larger battery, the mid-level Esprit Alpine starts at around £43,500 and the Iconic costs from £45,500.My car came with a fantastic Matte paint at an additional cost of £1700.

The new Scenic is good to look at and has many nice design touches inside and out. It feels well built and the cabin is a nice place to be with quality materials and all the technology you could want. The Scenic's good looks, smart interior, long range and excellent equipment levels mean it has what it takes to compete in a very tough sector.Battery: 87kWh.Consumption: 3.6m/kWh.Meanwhile, MINI is increasing its range by offering a new five-door version of the Cooper, which will be built at the company's Oxford plant and be available only with the choice of two petrol engines.

The Cooper C has a 1.5-litre three cylinder engine which develops 156hp and has a 0 to 62mph time of eight seconds with a maximum of 140mph while the S model has 204hp 2.0-litre and completes the sprint in 6.8 seconds with a top speed of 150mph.
