John O’Shea has been named as the Republic of Ireland head coach on an interim basis. The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has announced that O’Shea, 42, will take charge when Ireland face Belgium and Switzerland in two friendlies in Dublin next month. They do not play again until June. Jude Bellingham remains a doubt for Real Madrid 's La Liga fixture against Valencia on Saturday as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

Bellingham has been sidelined since suffering a sprained ankle against Girona on February 10 and a return for Madrid's Champions League last-16 second leg tie against RB Leipzig on March 6 was targeted. The 20-year-old midfielder is yet to return to group training and is completing physio, gym and swimming pool work as his recovery continues. He is a reasonable doubt to be included in the Madrid squad for the weekend's trip to Valenci
