We chat with Fleabag's Sian Cliffordand TheGrinder's John Owen Lowe about joining forces for the new Netflix comedy Unstable, which Lowe also co-created:
Unstable, a new Netflix comedy created by Victor Fresco, Rob Lowe, and John Owen Lowe, is a funny workplace comedy elevated by the fact that it is a family affair above all else. Lowe and his son John Owen star as Ellis and Jackson Dragon, a world-renowned biotech CEO and his musician son. For a show that grew out of John Owen Lowe’s continued roasting of his father on social media, Unstable is refreshingly just as full of heart as it is of humor.
John Owen Lowe and Sian Clifford spoke with Screen Rant about working with Rob, the pressures of working on Unstable, and making fun of flutists. Sian, you've done this kind of thing before in Fleabag, but what is it like to act in scenes alongside the creators of a show? Is that added pressure, or does it make things easier?
John Owen Lowe: I had a lot of conversations about that with my therapist; I don't know how many I had with my dad. The truth is that I have had 27 years to navigate it thus far. While I haven't figured out how to do it perfectly, I think that this show was a reflection of how tumultuous that journey has been, but also how rewarding it's been at times. And my dad's been very supportive along the way, at least as supportive as he can be.
