Transfers Julius Marble, Andersson Garcia joining Texas A&M basketball team
Julius Marble, who was expected to compete for a starting spot at Michigan State, instead is transferring to Texas A&M.COLLEGE STATION — Buzz Williams has added some size to his Texas A&M roster this offseason, all in one day.
Forwards Julius Marble of Michigan State and Andersson Garcia of Mississippi State both announced Monday they intend to transfer to A&M. The size-challenged Aggies last season under Williams narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the National Invitation Tournament title game in New York, a loss to Xavier.
A&M has lost guards Quenton Jackson , Aaron Cash and Hassan Diarra from the NIT team, with the latter two opting to transfer. Marble and Garcia were both backups at their last programs but Marble was expected to contend for a starting job for the Spartans next season. He grew up in Dallas and attended Dallas Jesuit.
Garcia of the Dominican Republic averaged 4.3 points per game over nearly 15 minutes per game for the Bulldogs this past season. Marble averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Spartans this past season.
