Reports from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office show the teen has been hospitalized at least three times since February and is receiving mental health care. In those reports, the teen at one point told law-enforcement officers they were seeing"shadow people" and had long felt as if they were two different people.
Michael Salnick, a West Palm Beach criminal defense attorney, said it's within the Ferriters' rights to rearrange parts of their home prior to their arrest. Salnick said it's common for people who think they may be arrested to contact a defense attorney early – even before police involvement.
