EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Springwatch presenter Kate Humble has opened up about her decision to leave the wildlife programme after fronting it for six years alongside Bill Oddie and then Chris Packham
Kate Humble has opened up about her emotional departure from Springwatch in 2011, likening it to "a bit like leaving home". In an exclusive interview with Reach plc, the beloved Animal Park presenter confessed that she left because the job "stopped scaring me", prompting her to seek new adventures.
She looked back fondly on her tenure, expressing pride and appreciation for the show's challenges: "I was enormously proud of it and it was enormously challenging in all the best sort of ways." However, Kate acknowledged a shift in her feelings towards the show, adding: "But, the honest truth is, it stopped scaring me. There is a quote that people attribute to Eleanor Roosevelt, which is, 'do something that scares you every day', and I really live by that, and when Springwatch stopped scaring me, I thought, 'this is such an important programme, it has done so much'.
