Aides are working closely with William and Kate's charities to orchestrate future engagements that will involve actual visits—with social distancing, of course
has reached out to one of the most vulnerable sectors of the community as part of her pledge to continue her virtual charity efforts during the pandemic.
Kate visited Clouds House last Thursday via a video conference call where she got to meet staff and clients who have been going through the charity’s program. A spokesman for the charity said that the Duchess was keen “to get involved, and also wanted to do something to help during lockdown.” Dressed in a red shirt, the Duchess, who is still self-isolating at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, was shown around the newly refurbished Clouds House, which has been running rehabilitation programs during the lockdown. Speaking with staff and clients who have been through the program, Kate described it as “a lifeline to so many people,” adding that Action on Addiction was providing “life-changing support.
Addiction is often not recognized as an illness. It carries a stigma – that somehow individuals are to blame for the situation in which they find themselves,” he said, adding that Kate “has supported us in improving understanding of this life-stopping condition, and her timely digital visit to Clouds House, our residential treatment centre in Wiltshire in response to this issue will do much to remove that stigma.
