Katherine Heigl recently addressed the longstanding rumor that she rejected an Emmy nomination in 2008 for her role on Grey's Anatomy.
'I would take that nomination if it came my way. I'd be down. But I just knew there wasn't anything that would really warrant one that year, and I was trying to be honorable, I guess. I was trying to have some integrity. I wasn't trying to be a d**k.' In a 2008 statement, Heigl explained, 'I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.'
Addressing the exit, Heigl said: 'I was so naive. I got on my soapbox and I had some things to say, and I felt really passionate about this stuff.' The news of Heigl's decision to withdraw from Emmy consideration stirred controversy, especially since she had won the Best Supporting Actress award the previous year
'I was in my late 20s. It took me until probably my mid- to late-30s to really get back to tuning out all of the noise and going, “But who are you? Are you this bad person? Are you ungrateful? Are you unprofessional? Are you difficult?”
