Through the program, children make a list of the things they most want for Christmas, and community members “adopt” the child and fill the list.Einar, an infant, wants warm winter clothes, diapers and wipes and winter blankets, his parents wrote.Jacob, 13, wants roller skates, board games and clothes.This year set a new record for the number of families served, said Theresa Weins, Santa’s Sleigh coordinator.
“It’s amazing, really, the way people stepped up,” Weins said. “Every year the need is greater and every year more people help.” While the children have been adopted, Weins said, Katy Christian Ministries still needs monetary and gift card donations to round out gift contributions.All items purchased are tax deductible, and tax receipts may be requested at donation drop off.
