Kiptum, whose age is listed as 23, finished the race, run in optimum conditions, in 2 hours, 35 seconds, breaking the world record of 2:01:09in the 2022 Berlin Marathon. Kenya’s Benson Kipruto was second in 2:04:023 and Bashir Abdi of Belgium was third in 2:04:32. Four Americans — Conner Mantz, Clayton Young, Galen Rupp and Sam Chelanga — cracked the top 10 finishers.
