Ken Mathew defeats incumbent Cecil Willis in Stafford mayor race by 14 votes

After narrowly winning Stafford’s mayoral post, Ken Mathew says his goals include expanding the city's retail sector to boost sales tax revenue while enhancing the community's attractiveness to young professionals.by 14 votes, according to unofficial results from Saturday's runoff election. Mathew received 500 votes, or 50.81 percent, compared to 484 for Willis.
“We have run our campaign without being negative," said Mathew, who held Position 6 on City Council until his term expired in May."I wish to thank all the people of Stafford for having confidence in me.”A retired financial executive, Mathew said he will continue supporting Stafford's status as theHe said another goal is to reduce wasteful government spending.
