Kevin Hart on his new self-help book, managing a busy schedule, and season 2 of ‘Dave’
was me just talking about my life lessons: “This is my story, this is me laying out how I grew up and what a lot of the trials and tribulations were for me along the way that helped create the man that I am today.” Then after that, there’s an ending to it, but that ending kind of left off in a space where there were some years after to follow.
JW: I also really enjoy the little mentions of pop culture sprinkled throughout. You’ve got references to Dwayne Johnson and Marvel’s Ultron, for example. Were these things a way to give listeners a frame of reference? It’s exactly that. It’s identifying and giving you some ooo’s and ahhh’s within the listen. There are some moments that are relatable on so many different levels. This is just adding some of the levels.
And after you start recording, it’s about, “Alright, well, we are doing a recording, but we gotta go back and listen.” I gotta re-listen and I gotta make sure it sounds right. And if it doesn’t sound right, then I gotta think about why not and get it to sound the way I want it to sound. “Ok, am I saying what I want to say here? Is this making sense?” It’s constantly checking off these boxes, but it’s a process. It’s not something that happens overnight.
Well, a good listen is a good listen. I think this is something that’s gonna grab your attention and I would say on your first attempt, whether you’re running, walking, whether you’re in a car, whether you’re home and you’re cooking and cleaning, I would say just give yourself the best opportunity to receive the information.
