A couple recently recounted the harrowing experience of how nurse Lucy Letby attempted to take their dying baby from their arms during his final moments.
Adding to the testimony, Child Cs mother remarked: "It's horrendous, knowing what we know now. It took us aback at the time because it didn't fit with the circumstances of what was happening - we were having this private and very difficult moment that went on for several hours. "I haven't got any physical memories of my son that were not packed in the box by Lucy Letby," Child C's mum disclosed to the inquiry
The family of Child C faced a harrowing fight for the truth following their son's death, as more infant fatalities on the unit came to light. Child C's mother recounted her struggle to obtain a copy of a damning report by the Royal College of Paediatric Health, which was the first public acknowledgement of higher neonatal death rates at the Countess of Chester.
