An inspirational Kilmarnock teenager has shattered Scottish education records after achieving EIGHT advanced highers
.
Thousands of school kids across Scotland discovered how they fared in their exams today with 18-year-old Hannah waking up in the Spanish resort of Salou to her record-breaking results. "In fourth year she had an eye operation in each eye she diplopia which is like severe double-vision and then she had to go back in 5th year for another one because they over-corrected it. Dealing with all that she just takes it in her stride. The exceptional student sat four highers in fourth year at Grange, achieving five As in maths, English, drama, music and French.
Hannah got in touch with SQA chiefs last year to ask what the record number of advanced highers was for one student. Explaining her motivations behind the feat, Hannah added: "Coming from a state school rather than a private school, it made me want to prove that state school students can achieve a lot and going for the record would be a good testament to that.
Hannah said: "I believe there's a huge gap in the market for tutoring. When I did my own research I found that prices were around upwards of £40 an hour - I don't know many students that could afford that every week so I wanted to create a business that benefitted students to afford the help they needed and helps tutors, who are students too, to earn more than £5 an hour.
