Kim Petras dedicated her first Grammy Award win to trans artists who came before her in an emotional speech Sunday night. Petras won best pop duo/group performance for the song 'Unholy' alongside singer-songwriter Sam Smith.

"Thank you so much for your inspiration, Sophie," she said."I adore you, and your inspiration will forever be in my music.", Petras won best pop duo/group performance for the song “Unholy.” Smith also made history with the win, becoming the first nonbinary artist to take home the award for best pop duo/group performance.
“I grew up next to a highway in nowhere Germany, and my mother believed me that I was a girl. I wouldn’t be here without her and her support,” she said.
