King Charles and his family are in Edinburgh at a special Order of the Thistle ceremony founded by James III.
Prince William joined the King and Queen at a special service to welcome three new members of the Order of the Thistle - Scotland's highest chivalric honour.
The King has personally selected Sir Geoff Palmer, a human rights activist and educator on Scotland and slavery. Forensic anthropologist Professor Baroness Sue Black of Strome will also be added.Officially known as The Most and Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, it recognises those who have contributed greatly to Scottish life. There are 16 knights and ladies in the order from medicine, law, academia, politics and business.
Upon arrival, The King and Queen received a Royal Salute given by The Guard of Honour, found by The King's Bodyguard for Scotland, the Royal Company of Archers.
