King Charles III departs from tradition by recording his Christmas message outside of a royal estate, choosing a former hospital chapel in central London. The choice reflects his Christian beliefs and acknowledges the health challenges faced this year.

King Charles has chosen to shake things up this year by not filming his traditional Christmas message at a royal estate, marking a significant departure from tradition. The 76 year old monarch recorded his speech at the Fitzrovia Chapel, a former hospital chapel in Pearson Square, central London, nearly two weeks ago.

The choice of location seems to hold two very touching meanings, one reflecting his deeply rooted Christian beliefs and the other acknowledging the health challenges he and others have faced this year. It's believed that this year, the King will choose to reflect on international, national and personal challenges and how they can be overcome by communities supporting each other. The Princess of Wales chose a similar theme for her Christmas carol concert, which centred around themes of kindness, love, empathy and being there for each other during difficult times. The King recorded his first Christmas broadcast in 2022 and chose to stand in St George's Chapel in Windsor as he paid tribute to his late mother and late father. Last year, the King kept in line with tradition and pre-recorded his broadcast from Buckingham Palace and spoke about the values of the Christmas story. With the statue of Queen Victoria visible behind him, the King said: 'This care and compassion we show to others is one of the themes of the Christmas story, especially when Mary and Joseph were offered shelter in their hour of need by strangers, as they waited for Jesus to be born.' He continued: 'Over this past year my heart has been warmed by countless examples of the imaginative ways in which people are caring for one another - going the extra mile to help those around them simply because they know it is the right thing to do: at work and at home; within and across communities
