Three of the Kings’ last four games have been decided by a solitary goal, and all three reached overtime.
Center Phillip Danault and forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan lit the lamp in regulation for the Kings. Winger Kevin Fiala scored in the shootout and Trevor Moore netted the winner for the second straight game, and all three of his career shootout goals have been game-winners. Pheonix Copley stopped 23 shots. The Kings have won four of the five games he has started since they demoted Cal Petersen.
The Kings gave fans the gift of bonus hockey with a massive penalty kill, only to commit another infraction against Meier, who drew the previous foul, early in overtime. For the second straight game, the Kings’ much-maligned PK came up big in the extra session. Fifty seconds after San Jose took its first lead, the Kings got an equalizer from their fourth line and its relentless forechecking. Strong play on the puck from Anderson-Dolan and Rasmus Kupari as well as a decisive shot from defenseman Mikey Anderson created a rebound chance for Anderson-Dolan’s third goal of the season.
