Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach would reportedly need 'walk-in' access to the Oval Office if he were to take on the Trump administration's immigration file.
Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is reportedly set to become President Donald Trump's new"immigration czar"—but only if the White House can meet an exacting list of demands he is said to have laid out.
Other conditions outlined include having a staff of seven, a security detail if necessary, the ability to"walk in" to the Oval Office on demand, and the title of"assistant to the president.
A staunch immigration hardliner himself, Kobach was vocal in railing against the caravans of migrants that made their way to the U.S. border last year. He also helped write an Arizona law demanding that local officials verify the citizenship of anyone they suspected to be an undocumented immigrant.
