No Ohio State freshman exits the spring with more momentum than Kye Stokes, who’s already putting himself in position to make an early impact at safety.
Among the 11 members of Ohio State’s recruiting class of 2022 who enrolled early, no one has more momentum than Kye Stokes coming out of spring practices.
Stokes’ strong start to his Ohio State career already became apparent last week when he was the first freshman tothis year. Stokes was one of just two freshmen to lose his black stripe this spring along with defensive end Caden Curry, and Ryan Day said Stokes was the first to earn that distinction because of both the playmaking ability he’s shown and his positive attitude.
Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles was impressed by how Stokes stepped up in the spotlight of playing in front of fans in the Shoe. During his first interview session as a Buckeye in February, Stokes said he was inspired by Burke’s rapid rise up the depth chart and hoped to follow in his footsteps.
