Busch's 61st career Cup win gives Rowdy wins in 19 consecutive seasons.
Throughout NASCAR’s history, the sanctioning body has never wanted one team to dominate. The fact that seven different teams finished in the top 10 Sunday at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, showed there could be no shortage of different winners this year.
Ross Chastain led Trackhouse’s effort. He won the first two Stages for the first time in his career and was the top lap leader, setting the pace five times for 91 laps. He placed third, while teammate Daniel Suarez fought back from a pit road speeding penalty on lap 68 to finish fourth. A nine-car wreck—the largest in Auto Club Speedway history—eliminated four victory contenders from the race.
“It’s disappointing to get wrecked out of the race like that on a silly Mickey Mouse restart, but I should have known better,” Almirola said.
