Bosses say the international group are at the top of their wishlist.
South African vocal harmony group Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been announced as a headliner at this year's Shrewsbury Folk Festival.
The event will be held between 23 and 26 August at the West Mids Showground on the outskirts of the town. Thousands of people attended during last year's bank holiday weekend, with organisers seeking to attract visitors from all over the world. A statement said the Grammy award-winning group, which shot to global stardom on Paul Simon's Graceland album, had been top of the festival's wishlist.
"They have become recognised as one of the world's greatest and most distinctive vocal groups," bosses said.The group's founder and director Joseph Shabalala, who helped introduce the sound of traditional Zulu music to the world,Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jacqui McShee's Pentangle and Mary Gauthier were also named among the line up.
