Callous Paul Allan told one sobbing victim that “tears won’t work with me” and pressed a cushion down on the second woman’s face, leaving her struggling to breathe.
The first violent episode she remembered was in 2007 when Allan grabbed her throat during an argument. He tightened his grip, restricting her breathing, before shoving her to the floor.Ms Mathieson told the court: “They were in a car on another occasion when he mocked her about that incident.“He then pushed her with such force that her head struck the car windscreen.”
“Fearing for her safety and that of her unborn child, the woman asked ‘Are you going to stab me when I’m pregnant?’The court heard of another assault that left the woman needing hospital treatment. After she finally left him, Allan rekindled his relationship with the first victim, but things turned sour again and he assaulted her at a flat in Wishaw in October 2021.
