More than 500 youngsters are settling into classes at the £25 million Riverbank Primary and Nursery in Coatbridge
Pupils at Lanarkshire’s newest school gave top marks to their surroundings as they enjoyed their first day of classes in their much-anticipated new building.

Head teacher Helen Paterson said it was “very special for all our families and staff to be settling into our wonderful new school and nursery environment” and added: “The new building has so much to offer both the children and the wider community. A 50-place nursery for youngsters aged three to five is also part of the education campus, which also includes a special kitchen area for pupils to use in lessons, plus a full-sized 3G 11-a-side sports pitch.
