Lancaster bats off Chester for exclusive Monopoly board as 'local pride' shines through
Lancaster has beaten off fierce competition and been confirmed to receive its very own edition of Monopoly.
"I'm sure once people in Lancaster hear of this, which it's been a secret up until now, they will be excited and everybody will have all their ideas of what they would like to see on this Monopoly board," Mayor Pritchard said. For Mayor Pritchard, Aston Memorial is a must for the board. She added: "The Ashton Memorial should be on there which is a lovely building, the castle of course, we've got to have the castle on it I'm sure.
London-based games company Winning Moves UK, who will develop Lancaster's version of the property-trading game game, used a number of factors in selecting the Lancashire location. They included ‘pride’, beauty’, 'sense of community and 'distinct heritage' and will be "wonderfully spoiled for choice" with Lancaster when putting the board together.
