The Penn Township man thought the two were involved in criminal activity as they left their car and walked to a nearby apartment, according to police.
Police accuse a Lancaster County man of firing a shot when he saw a suspicious person walking near his vehicle outside his home.
William Bonanno faces charges of recklessly endangering another person and simple assault after he followed two people from their vehicle to a nearby apartment, entered a verbal altercation and fired a bullet as a “warning shot”. Bonanno noticed one person walking near his vehicle outside his home on the 1600 block of Auction Road in Penn Township at around 1 a.m. Friday morning, when he exited with his firearm to investigate, according to police.
Once outside, Bonanno saw two people exit a vehicle and walk to an apartment. Bonanno believed they were involved in criminal activity and confronted them in a verbal altercation, police said. Bonanno told police he “felt in danger for his life” before brandishing his firearm and firing a “warning shot” in the direction of one of the people, according to police.
