Land reuse project to revitalize historic barrios near Phoenix airport abc15
PHOENIX — In the Phoenix neighborhoods west and southwest of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, you'll likely find several empty lots with signage showing the lots are Phoenix city property and no trespassing is allowed.
Valdez’s roots in the barrios run deep. He says his father grew up in Green Valley. His grandmother grew up in Golden Gate before he said she was relocated. Carter is part of a task force, along with Valdez, that was put together to come up with solutions for the empty lots and address current and former residents' biggest issues.
In the official Land Reuse Project documents are renderings of what the marked cultural corridor could look like including the changes that could happen at Lewis Park in Cuatro Milpas and Santa Rita space in Campito, to name a few.
