Light snow possible in Hill Country after severe storms move through South Texas.

Severe weather is expected in San Antonio on Thursday.Large hail, damaging winds and a potential tornado are among the primary threats to the San Antonio area as“It wouldn’t surprise us if a tornado was around, but the chances of one developing are better farther north,” said Bob Fogarty, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “But San Antonio is still squarely in the risk area.
Expect to see some isolated showers and thunderstorms throughout the day on Thursday in San Antonio. However, the severe weather isn’t expected here until around 8 p.m.Most of South Central Texas is still under a slight risk of severe weather, but the greatest threat to San Antonio is hail about the size of a half-dollar, Fogarty said. The area is also at risk of high winds – about 65 mph – and thunderstorms.In terms of rainfall for San Antonio, don’t expect a whole lot, Fogarty said.
“A half an inch is a good bet, but if you get a heavy downpour, I wouldn’t be shocked to see 2 inches,” Fogarty said. “It’s going to be fast, but not excessive.” An isolated strong storm is possible east of I-35 this afternoon, prior to more widespread storms tonight. Some of these could also be severe. Very gusty winds on Friday and blustery through the weekend. Isolated rain-snow mix is possible to the northwest Saturday AM.
