Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Santa Cruz police were called to an active home-invasion burglary not far from the Santa Cruz County Emeline Street complex.
According to a Santa Cruz Police Department post to Facebook listing recommended responses to break-ins, “the home residents did all of these right things when they heard someone breaking in.” The department suggested that others faced with a similar situation also quickly and quietly verify the intruder’s presence, stay calm, call police, escape or stay put and out of sight if they cannot and keep quiet and follow police dispatch instructions.
Wright is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Santa Cruz County Superior Court on charges filed Thursday for felony burglary and vandalism, plus misdemeanor resisting arrest. As of Thursday, he remained at Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
