The lawsuit, which attorney Subodh Chandra filed on behalf of Georgeanna Semary, accuses the court’s Administrative Judge Leslie Ann Celebrezze, Administrator James Zak and other officials of demoting Semary and cutting her pay by $20,000 this summer.

The Marshall Project -- Cleveland

Semary’s lawsuit says that Celebrezze and Dottore were having an extramarital affair and that Celebrezze confided in Semary. The suit also claims that the FBI’s public corruption unit interviewed Semary and asked her about Celebrezze. The suit was assigned to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew Santoli. The allegations surfaced after a private investigator followed Celebrezze for several days and recorded video of Celebrezze and Dottore kissing outside a restaurant.

The move came after Dottore had filed paperwork asking for a hearing on whether the husband was improperly concealing assets. The lawsuit said that Celebrezze and the court’s administrators demoted her, citing a provision in the employee handbook that requires employees notify the court’s administrative staff if they receive a request from the media. The lawsuit says that practice was rarely enforced during Semary’s time at the court. The lawsuit also claims that Celebrezze and Zak fabricated evidence to justify firing her.
