Lee Dawson's pal shouted 'don't die, don't die' as he performed CPR on friend after stabbing, court hears
The friend of Preston man Lee Dawson, who was stabbed to death in a city street, said he 'wore his heart on his sleeve' and wouldn't back down from a fight.
He returned to Preston on June 16 and joined friends in the Wellfield pub in Plungington for drinks. In the early hours of June 17, Mr Dawson walked to Ms Nicol's flat, with Michael Silcock, Anthony Silcock, known as 'Silly' and Kelly Stephenson. She told the court Mr Dawson threatened to burn Mr Wilson, known as Wiggady, on his lips with a pair of GHD straighteners which were on the side, but Mr Dawson's friend Michael Silcock unplugged them and said they were broken. She said he was "sometimes nice, sometimes not" to her, and kept bringing up Mr Cross's death.
In a police interview, Ms Nicol said Mr Dawson punched Bibby in the head, telling him: "You bow down to me". She was so scared by Mr Dawson's behaviour she made a silent 999 call to the police and hid the phone under her leg, with the line open, to try and alert help. The jury was shown CCTV which showed Ben Bibby and Andrew Wilcock, 29, leaving Driscoll Street and walk to Lychgate, off Church Street, where Bibby's mum lives. A short while later they returned to the flat and spoke to police officers outside, saying there was "a tall, thin man who needs to leave".
Bibby, Cross and Brown ran down the street after Mr Dawson, followed by Mr Silcock, Andrew Wilcock and Metcalf. Mr Dawson suffered severe stab wounds and collapsed in a footpath leading to Jutland Street.
