Mohammed Farooq will make his next appearance at the Old Bailey next week
Mohammed Farooq, 27, of Roundhay, was allegedly found with a pressure cooker bomb outside Leeds' St James' Hospital. Westminster Magistrates' Court heard on Friday Mr Farooq was allegedly inspired by radical Islam and Jihad when he carried out "hostile reconnaissance" of the military base in Yorkshire on January 10 and 18 after he researched online.
As he appeared at the court over a video link from a police station in Bradford, he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
“These inquiries have confirmed our initial assessment that this was an isolated incident. We are satisfied that there is currently no evidence of an increased risk to the public, within our communities or the UK hospital estate, in connection with this investigation.t
